Ila "Sue" Jones (Mansfield)'s Obituary
On January 19, 1930 Bobbie and Oma (Newton) Davis welcomed Ila
Sue Davis into the world. On June 22, 2019 she was received in the
arms of Jesus at the age of eighty-nine years, five months and three
days.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers,
Claude(Peck), Donald(Hap) and Iveal(Chub) Davis all of Mansfield.
Sue is survived by her husband of 50 years, James; two daughters,
Susan Jones of Mansfield, Carleta Fuller and husband, Lanny, of
Springfield; son, Carmon Jones and wife, Linda, of Mansfield; three
grandchildren, Kristyn Jones of Springfield, Katie Colston and husband,
Daniel, and Jacob Peak all of Mansfield; three sisters-in-law, Leah Davis
of Mansfield, Barbara Ann Crowder and husband, Dennis, of Lebanon,
and Clara Jones of Mansfield; she was also a mom to a close family
friend, Anna Malley; she loved her three nieces, Lawana, Sandy, and
Kathy as her own, and was a great and great-great aunt as well.
She was born in Mansfield and lived her entire life here. She
graduated from Mansfield High School in the Class of 1947 and then
went to cosmetology school and became a beautician. She worked at
Alice’s Beauty Shop for over 20 years.
On March 21, 1969, she married the love of her life, James P. Jones.
They started their married life on a dairy farm in Mansfield where Sue
became James’ top hand. In 1979, they moved to Sue’s family farm and
became beef farmers. In the 1980’s, Sue opened Woodland Ceramics,
and worked there until retiring. After retiring, her focus changed, and
she took care of James, Katie, and Jacob and boy did they keep her on
her toes.
Sue had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of
the Mansfield Church of the Nazarene where she was very active until
her health failed. She was also a member of the Mansfield Historical
Society and a member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years.
Sue lived a very full life and was loved many and will be deeply missed.
