Ilaine Hendrick (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Helen "Ilaine" (Tull-Matzen) Hedrick of Bolivar, Mo passed away
on April 21, 2019 at her home in Bolivar, Mo.
Ilaine was born in Conway Springs, Kansas on July 7, 1921 to
Emil Tull and Anna (Varenhoust) Tull. She married Jack Matzen
in 1941. They farmed west of the Wichita, Ks area where they
raised their family and divorced in 1962. In 1967 she married Carl
Hedrick where they lived in Iowa until they retired to Stockton, Mo.
In 2007 she moved to Bolivar.
Ilaine's biggest joy in life was spending time with her large family
with whom she loved to play cards of any kind. She could always
be heard saying get out the cards and what are we playing.
Her hobby was quilting and she has made many quilts for her
children and grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl, her daughter Kay
(Gary) Appelman, her brothers Bob (Minnie) Tull, Ray (Ruth)
Tull, her sisters Thelma (Melvin) Lowderman and Wanda (Walt)
Siemers. She is survived by: four children, Donna (Lou) Uza of
Bolivar, MO; George (Pat) Matzen of Finley, OK; Jackie (Jim)
Slaymaker of Manhattan, KS and Cindy (Phil) Hamann of
Colorado Springs, CO; one brother Lawrence (Melba) Tull; 12
grandchildren; Alan Burgerhoff, Gaye Viox, Rodney Burgerhoff,
Mike (Christy) Appelman, Karla (Bill) Voss, Lisa (Vince) Lyssy,
John Matzen, Kim (Jeff) Luna, James (Karla) Slaymaker, Eric
(Denise) Slaymaker, Jennifer Hamann and Josh Hamann; 23 great -grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Ilaine will be Sunday, April 28, 2019 from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M., with Memorial Services to follow at 2:00 at Butler Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful people at compasssus Hospice who so lovingly cared for Ilaine for the last two years. Memorial contributions may be made to the Compassus Hospice or to Zion Lutheran Chruch.
