Weldon, Cornelia J. Neal, 88 Cornelia Janet Weldon, daughter of Cornelius and Angeline Van deVeer, was born May 22, 1918, in Harvey, Iowa. She departed this life Monday, June 12, 2006, in her daughter’s home, near Richland, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, and twenty days. Early in her life she was united in marriage to Archie Weldon, who preceded her in death in 1982. Her parents, one brother, and six sisters also preceded her in death. “Neal”, as she was called by her family and friends, is survived by a dear friend, Dale “Spud” Duskin, of Lebanon, Missouri; two daughters, Louise McCowan, of Richland, Missouri, and Arlene Goemaat, of Oskaloosa, Iowa; two sons, Jimmy Lee Miller, of Bucklin, Missouri, and Charles “Chuck” Miller, of Russell, Illinois; thirteen grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren; twenty-five great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Riggins, of Knoxville, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in the Harvey, Iowa area. After she was married, she continued to make her home in Iowa, and was a devoted homemaker and loving mother to her family. Later, she owned and worked at restaurants for several years, and was proud of her cooking and restaurant management skills. She also sold Avon products for many years. In the middle 1970’s she and Archie moved to Lebanon, Missouri, and made their home. Neal had attended services at Grace Calvary Church in Lebanon. She enjoyed going to the Hughes Senior Center and taking part in the activities offered there. She liked to play card games, especially her favorite, Pitch. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed making special recipes for her family. Neal was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 15, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Lebanon. Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Memorial contributions to Hughes Senior Center may be made through the funeral home.
