In Memory's Obituary
J.C. Mosier, son of Elijah Richard “Dick” and Clara Josephine Gibson Mosier, was born August 14, 1919, in Macks Creek, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, November 28, 2008, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-nine years, three months and fourteen days. On July 21, 1942, in San Francisco, California, he was united in marriage to Faye McCain. Together they shared fifty-five years until her passing on December 26, 1997. He was also preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Velma Folsum, Doris Beck, Leona Foster and Burla Mosier, and three brothers, John Mosier, Leonard Mosier and Glen Mosier. Survivors include a sister, Maxine Williams of Camdenton, Missouri; a niece Carol Webster and husband Gary of Camdenton; a friend, Helen Ollison and husband Ray of Climax Springs, Missouri; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. J.C. was raised in Camden County. After school, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He served on the USS Idaho in the Pacific. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he went to work for Schutz Construction based in Mt. Home, Arkansas. His job, building dams and reservoirs, moved him all over the country. In 1958, he and Faye returned to Camdenton where they owned and operated the Lan-O-Lak motel until 1964. They then began operation of a grocery store in Wheatland, Missouri. After they sold the store, he farmed in Decaturville for several years. He was elected to the Camden County Commission in 1986 and served for two years. He decided to retire, however chose to run again for a Commissioner’s seat a few years later. His second term spanned ten years and he retired in 2000. He made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Camdenton United Methodist Church. Being civic minded, J.C. served on the Camden County Republican Committee and was active in city government when he owned the motel. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. J.C. was a loving brother and uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend. He devoted much of his life in the service of others and we are truly thankful for his time and dedication. Services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday December 2, 2008 at the Alee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation is Monday Evening 5-8:00 pm under the direction of the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home Camdenton, Missouri.A memorial has been established to the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Care Fund.
