Corbin, William Edward Tom, 79 William Edward “Tom” Corbin, son of Henry and Willie Edna Young Corbin, was born May 20, 1928, in Higbee, Colorado. He departed this life Friday, October 26, 2007, in his home near Hartville, Missouri, at the age of seventy-nine years, five months and six days. On September 1, 1955 he was united in marriage to Thelma Elizabeth Goodman, who preceded him in death on September 24, 1999. Tom and Thelma shared forty-four years together. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ella Sumpter. Tom is survived by a son, James Minear, and his wife, Faye, of Donaldsonville, Georgia; twin daughters, Pamula Tyner, and her husband, Bill, of Rye Colorado, and Tammy Burnett, and her husband, Bill, of Fort Worth, Texas; nine grandchildren, Lee Minear, and wife, Marsha, Kim Johnston, and husband, James, Candace Walker, and husband, Boe, Amanda Burnett, Christine Burnett, Travis Tyner, Shane Burnett, Alex Burnett, and Adam Burnett; four great-grandchildren, Dakota and Dominic Johnston, and Ethan and Avery Walker; a sister, Thelma Sumpter, of Branson, Colorado; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in Colorado. After he and Thelma were married, they made their home in Colorado for several years, then moved to Florida, and eventually came to Hartville in 1995. Throughout his life he worked as a rancher, carpenter, logger, gold and uranium miner, heavy construction operator, power plant worker and a shrimper. Tom had made his profession of faith in Christ, and was a member of the Little Creek Baptist Church. He loved helping family, friends and especially his church family with home building projects. His best times were setting around the table with a cup of coffee and a good conversation. Tom was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 30, 2007, in the Little Creek Baptist Church, north of Hartville. Burial will be in Little Creek Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Hartville, Missouri. Memorials to the Wright County Children's Home may be made through the funeral home.
