They soon returned to the Lebanon area where they lovingly raised their children. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her family, Irene also worked at the Rice Stix Factory for a few years, and then was a waitress at Vern’s Malt Shop in downtown Lebanon for twenty-seven years. Irene made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was a longtime member of Happy Hill Freewill Baptist Church. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and growing beautiful flowers. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed having Sunday dinners for all the family, when she often made her specialty, chicken and noodles. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
