Irene Smith (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Irene Smith, age 96 of Bolivar, passed away July 15, 2015 at 1:20 PM at the Parkview Healthcare Facility in Bolivar.
Irene was born on September 26, 1918 in Unionville, MO the daughter of Arthur J. Williamson and Beulah (Steele) Williamson.
On September 10,1939 she was united in marriage to Robert H. “Bob” Smith. He preceded her in death February 1, 1995.
Irene had been a devoted member of the First Christian Church since October, 1948 when the family moved to Bolivar from Unionville, MO. She enjoyed playing bridge well into her 90’s and loved to care for her plants and flowers.
She was a graduate of Unionville High School. Irene was also very active in the Mizpah Chapter #230, Order of the Eastern Star in Bolivar,
She attended Church and Sunday School for many years, and was a member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship at the First Christian Church. She was possibly the oldest member of the church at the time of her passing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers, Richard Steele Williamson and Alva Eugene Williamson and a sister-in-law Dixie Williamson.
Surviving Irene is her two sons John Robert Smith of Bolivar, MO; Phillip L. Smith and wife Martha of Hannibal, MO; 5 Grandchildren, Lora M. Smith and husband Jeffery G. of Allen, TX; Gregory L. Smith of New York, NY; Michelle Thornhill and husband Bret of Belle Vista, AR; Michael Davolt and wife Denise of Thompson Station, TN; Grady Davolt of Columbia, MO. 11 Great Grandchildren, Sydney C., Jeffery G. and Lyndsey S. Smith of Allen, TX; Maddie, Mollie and Collin Thornhill of Bella Vista, AR; Zoey, Zaley and Ty Davolt of Thompson Station, TN; Colby and Parker Davolt of Columbia, MO. Also a sister-in-law Mary Margaret Davis-Barclay of Unionville, MO. Also nieces, nephews and many friends.
