Iris Jean Childs (Mansfield)'s Obituary
Iris Jean Childs, 82, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at the Johnson County Nursing Home in Warrensburg, Missouri. She was born in Mansfield, Missouri on May 9, 1933 to Robert Medley and Thelma Anderson Towe.
Iris Jean attended school in Mansfield and later moved to Kansas City, MO where she was married to Richard Childs in 1967. She was a member of Kansas City Baptist Temple.
Iris Jean is survived by son, Gary Gass, Lawrence, Kansas; daughter, Kathy Bailey, Hartville, MO; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Opal Towe, Mansfield, MO; sister and bro
ther-in-law, Karen and Robert Sanders, Springfield, MO; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Dolores and Margaret Towe.
Iris Jean loved to sing and play the piano. She also loved to go for rides, eat at McDonald’s, an
d shop at Wal-Mart. During her time at the nursing home, she would often ask her brother and sister to send her some of that “green stuff,” which she would then trade for cigarettes. During visits, she frequently talked about her children. Iris Jean is, thankfully, at peace for the first time in
many years.
