Irl Euliss Day (Buffalo)'s Obituary
On September 16 Irl Euliss Day passed away after a prolonged decline in health. Born 1926 in Marshfield, Missouri and grew up in Morrisville, Missouri the son of Ada and Irl Day. There he excelled in sports and upon graduation he entered the Navy in 1944. He served his country through the duration of World War II and returned home. He married Dorothy Scheel in 1947 and both continued their college education until they began their family of Diana Elder, Kathy Wannenmacher, Dennis Day, and Cindy Day.
Irl was a teacher, coach, principal and warden in the Federal Bureau of Prisons from where he retired after many years of service. He enjoyed gardening, golf, and having an in-depth conversation. One of his writings says a lot about his personality: "What we must reach for is the concept of perpetual self-discovery, perpetual reshaping to realize one's best self, to be the person one could be."
Preceded in death by Dorothy, beloved wife of 49 years, Irl remarried and shared the last 21 years with Dale (Bradley) Day of Buffalo, Missouri. He enjoyed the blended family with 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Irl Euliss Day will join Dorothy, his brother Virgil and parents. He is survived by his spouse Dale; his children, step-children, and spouses; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his sister, Betty Jo Stokes. Sleep well Irl.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Morrisville Cemetery Fund.
