Iva Lou Ivey's Obituary
Iva Lou Ivey was the daughter of Acle and Nora Jennings, one of ten children, born and raised about the area that was known as Brice at that time, now Bennett Spring. As a teenager Iva accepted the Lord as her Savior and was saved and baptized. Iva married James B. King on February 7, 1937. Their first child was stillborn, a son, two daughters, Patricia and Sharon still living. Iva enjoyed church and the many activities associated with church. Iva enjoyed making a spotless home and was an excellent cook, many things she learned from her mother-in-law, Anna B. King, and carried down to others in the family. Iva was a devoted pastor’s wife, following her husband, Jim, where he felt the Lord was leading, always knowing that was her duty as a pastor’s wife. James B. King passed away on March 30, 1980, after seven years of heart problems. Iva married Frank Ivey on April 2, 1982. They enjoyed their lives together. Frank was so good to her; Iva loved to say she was so blessed to have two good men in her life. Although they had several happy years, Frank also passed after many problems with his heart and kidneys on September 2, 1996. Iva enjoyed going to the Hughes Center and having lunch and staying for visiting and playing cards, it was a big part of her day. For several years, Iva lived next door to her sister, Inez Kathner, who was a wonderful, loyal sister, watching after Iva and enjoying just being together, they had an exceptional relationship. Iva and Frank were members of the Ozark Bible Church and Iva continued to attend three services a week until her health would no longer let her attend. After Iva could no longer live alone, she became a resident of the Christian Health Care North. She was a resident for almost seven years. Iva enjoyed the activities of the home, especially the preachers who came for Sunday services and the wonderful church music. The excellent and compassionate care of nurses and staff cannot be praised enough, Iva was treated like a queen and her family cannot say enough good things about the angels who loved and cared for her. Her level of care went beyond required; their compassion to family was so impressive. Iva was a lovely person, still very pretty and always taking such pride in her appearance, it was a family joke that her beautiful skin was because of Oil of Olay, a daily routine for Iva. Iva will be missed by all who knew her but her earthly body has now been replaced with a heavenly one. Iva loved to talk about her Lord and would want all to accept the Lord and be with her in heaven again someday. At the end of her journey on earth, we talked about heaven and how wonderful it would be and it was so exciting that she would soon be there with those she loved who were waiting for her. She is only a breath away, those who love the Lord will be reunited with Iva one day, and she’ll be waiting. A special note of thanks to the caring of the Hospice and chaplains who were so kind to visit and sing for mother, they have been a comfort to mother and family. This is not goodbye, it’s just until we all join her in God’s presence in our heavenly home, “A reunion for those who have believed and accepted Jesus as Savior”, don’t be left behind. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2007, in the Dotson Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
