Ivan W. Butcher (Lebanon)'s Obituary
.Ivan Willard Butcher, son of Oliver H. and Bertha Maddux Butcher, was born December 13, 1924, in Dallas County, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, June 17, 2016, at his home, near Eldridge, Missouri, at the age of ninety-one years, six months, and four days.
On May 1, 1949, he was united in marriage to Geraldine Ruth Fohn, and they shared sixty-six years before her passing on November 28, 2015.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a half-brother, Guy Cleland; and three sisters, Jewell Childress, Ila Gregory, and Eileen Barber.
Ivan is survived by several nieces and nephews; a number of cousins; and many good neighbors and friends.
He was born and raised in Dallas County and attended Lebanon Schools. After he and Geraldine were married, they made their home on their family farm where they raised Registered Limousine Cattle. Ivan became a well known and respected stockman in the Eldridge area. He liked life on the farm and his cattle were his passion. He also worked as a professional carpenter specializing in tile and floor covering work and had belonged to a carpenters union for many years.
Ivan professed his faith in Christ early in his life and was a longtime member of Goodwin Calvary Church. He was active in various types of church work throughout the years, and enjoyed the fellowship of the congregation.
He also was very supportive of the Zion Cemetery and served on their board of directors until his passing.
He liked being outdoors and enjoyed fishing during his younger years. He had a great love for animals and was especially fond of his pet dogs. He enjoyed visiting with his neighbors and friends. He was a man of his word and remained steadfast in his convictions throughout his life.
Ivan was a devoted family man, a dedicated and well thought of cattleman, and was a kind and caring friend to many. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Cemetery, and left at the funeral home.
