"J.D." John Davis (Buffalo)'s Obituary
“J.D.” John David Davis, son of the late Orville Eugene and Nettie Mae (Hoover) Davis, was born on November 19, 1943, in Buffalo, MO and departed this life on March 20, 2026, at his home near Lebanon, MO. At the time of his passing he was 82 years and four months of age. J.D. was raised in Buffalo, MO and graduated from Buffalo High School. He began his career with Kansas City Operating Engineers Local 101 as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He moved to California and continued his career for over 40 years with the Local 12 Operating Engineers. After his retirement, he moved to Oregon for 13 years before moving back to Missouri. J.D. enjoyed rodeoing, raising cattle on his farm, fishing and hunting. He was a private pilot and an extra in movies for short time. Above all, J.D. was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. J.D. was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Judy Woods and Nancy Guenther. He is survived by his son, Scott & wife Nicole Davis of Castaic, CA; his daughter, Deanna & husband Mark Mathews; two grandchildren, Piper Leann Davis and Dylan Mathews; three great-grandchildren, Teegan, Reed, and Ridge B; one brother, Gary Davis; and his companion of over 30 years, Ranel Nickelsen. He also leaves other family members and many friends who will all truly miss him. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Fund.
