Jack Cottengim (Mansfield)'s Obituary
Glen Jack Cottengim, son of Denver and Pearl Ridens Cottengim, was born August 4, 1937, at Norwood, Missouri, and departed this life on August 28, 2011, in Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare in Ava, Missouri, at the age of seventy-four years and twenty-four days after battling kidney disease for ten years.
On July 21, 1958, he was united in marriage to Shirley Kelley and to this union 5 children were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Jimmy Dean Cottengim, and three brothers, Vic, Junior and Billy Cottengim.
Jack is survived by his wife, Shirley of the home; two sons, Danny Cottengim and his wife Becky of Rogersville, Missouri, and Denver Cottengim and his wife Cindy of Mansfield, Missouri; two daughters, Glenda Bowman and her husband Thomas of Irving, Texas, and Terri Tabor and her husband Rocky of Ava, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Mark, Holly and Amanda Cottengim, Shane Tabor, Brandon, Marissa and Grant Bowman, Cody Cottengim and his wife Jenifer, and Aaron Cottengim and his wife Jessica; three sisters, Maydell Dake of Norwood, Missouri, Mary Williams of Exeter, Missouri, and Sue Iorg and her husband Allen of Bruner, Missouri; two brothers, Bob Cottengim and his wife Linda, and Wilkie Cottengim and his wife Donnasue all of Norwood, Missouri; along with many nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Jack was born and raised in the Norwood area and attended Norwood Schools. He lived all of his life in Wright County where he and Shirley raised their family. He was a lifelong farmer and also hauled milk for many years. Jack loved horses and raised registered Haflingers showing them to everyone.
He was saved and Baptized in his teenage years and attended the Pleasant Hill Church.
In his spare time he enjoyed taking his grandkids fishing, visiting with friends and neighbors and listening to Blue Grass music and attending festivals as long as his health permitted.
His greatest love was his family, and his grandchildren meant the world to him.
Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and will always cherish the many, many wonderful memories.
