Jack Hilton's Obituary
Jack D. Hilton, son of Harvey Elmer and Freeda Irene Hough Hilton, was born January 15, 1931, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Wednesday, October 24, 2007, in St. John’s Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-six years, nine months, and nine days. On June 11, 1950, he was united in marriage to Farron L. Campbell, and to this union three daughters were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Delmar and Gary Hilton; and a sister, Janice Hilton. Jack is survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Farron, of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Bob Haden, of Richmond, Missouri, Gina and Kevin Langford, of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Elise and Jeffery Smith, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; four grandchildren, Craig Langford, Rachel Langford, Jaklyn Smith, and Ella Smith; two great-grandchildren, Kalel Langford, and Edan Langford; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. He was born and raised in the Lebanon, Missouri area, and was graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1948. He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy from February 26, 1952 until February 24, 1956, during the Korean War. He worked for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources for thirty-seven years, retiring as a regional supervisor. His career took him and the family to Osage Beach, Festus, Poplar Bluff, Cameron, and Brookfield, Missouri. After retiring, he and Farron moved back to Lebanon and made their home. Jack made his profession of faith in Christ early in his life and wherever the family made their home, he was always active in a Baptist church. He was ordained into Deaconship at the Riverview Baptist Church on the Lake of the Ozarks, and was involved in all phases of church work throughout the years, including serving as a Sunday School Superintendent at one time. He was currently an active member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Lebanon. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and doing woodworking projects, particularly making dollhouses, cradles and rocking horses. He also was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jack was a loving family man, a dedicated worker, a man of deep religious faith, and a kind and caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure memories of him forever. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 27, 2007, in the First Baptist Church of Lebanon. Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 - 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Memorials to Kid's Stuff Childrens Ministry, at First Baptist Churh, may be made through the funeral home.
