Jack Honeycutt's Obituary
Jack Vernon Honeycutt, son of S.A. “Gus” and Margie Viola Trimble Honeycutt, was born November 20, 1924, in Harrison, Arkansas. He departed this life Wednesday, February 8, 2006, in his home, in Mansfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-one years, two months, and eighteen days. On August 4, 1946, he was united in marriage to Jean Dennis, and to this union one daughter and two sons were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; two great-grandsons; and a brother, George Honeycutt. Jack is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Jean, of the home; a daughter, Linda Honeycutt, of the home; two sons, Bruce Honeycutt, and his wife, Becky, of Marshfield, Missouri, and Allen Honeycutt, and his wife, Dixie, of Nixa, Missouri; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Carl Honeycutt, and his wife, Kay, of Houston, Missouri; a sister, Doris Alexander, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born in Arkansas and then lived in Thayer and Cabool, Missouri, before the family moved to Mansfield in 1936. He entered the military in 1942 and served his country faithfully in the United States Army Air Force during World War II. After receiving his honorable discharge in 1946, he returned to Missouri and married Jean. They first made their home in Tulsa, Oklahoma until 1947, and then moved to Mansfield where they lovingly raised their family. For many years he was an auto mechanic and salesman at his father’s automobile business, the S.A. Honeycutt Chevrolet Dealership in Mansfield. Later, he was employed by Hutchen’s Industries. He was a certified F.A.A. mechanic and graduated from Spartan Aeronautical School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was a licensed pilot and served in the Civil Air Patrol and was a longtime member of the Mansfield Volunteer Fire Department. Jack was a member of the Mansfield Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In his spare time he enjoyed bowling, working at the computer, and watching NASCAR races. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren. Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Mansfield. Burial will be in the Mansfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Mansfield, Missouri.
