Jackie Davis' Obituary
Jack Ray Davis, son of Jesse and Juanita Pate Davis, was born July 17, 1943, in Peoria, Illinois. He departed this life Tuesday, December 21, 2010, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of sixty-seven years, five months, and four days.
On September 11, 2000, he was united in marriage to Jeanette L. Hatton, and they shared the last ten years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Donald Davis; and a sister, Ruby Davis.
Jack is survived by his wife, Jeanette, of the home; two sons, Jack Davis, Jr., of Lebanon, Missouri, and Fred Davis, of Peoria, Illinois; two daughters, Dawn Davis, of Camdenton, Missouri, and Lora Cruse, of the State of Florida; five grandchildren, including a special grandson and buddy, Dalton Wright; a brother, Herman Davis, and his wife, Audrey, of East Peoria, Illinois; two sisters, Etta Dowds, and her husband, Jim, of Hanna City, Illinois, and Nellie McMichael, and her husband, John, of Peoria, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Peoria, Illinois, and then continued to make his home in Illinois for the next several years. He worked as a master electrician for the Sherex Chemical Company in Illinois for a number of years. In 1996, he moved to Missouri, after taking an early medical retirement. He and Jeanette had made their home in the Tunas community for the last few years.
Jack was a member of the Bennett Spring Volunteer Fire Department and enjoyed his involvement with that organization. He was a very outspoken man who always let you know where he stood on issues. He enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were hunting and fly fishing. He also liked to ride motorcycles and enjoyed horses.
Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
