Jackie Don West's Obituary
ackie Don West, son of Oris Wade and Carrie Myers West, was born July 31, 1953, in Noblesville, Indiana. He departed this life Sunday, June 29, 2008, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of fifty-four years, ten months, and twenty-eight days. He is survived by his parents, Wade and Carrie West, of Lebanon, Missouri; three brothers, Oris “Sonny” West, and his wife, Betty, of Phillipsburg, Missouri, Christopher West and Dax M. West, both of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister, Debra Shoemaker, and her husband, Sonny, of Lebanon, Missouri; three nephews; four nieces; five great-nephews; three great-nieces; a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Jackie lived most of his life in the Lebanon area and attended Lebanon RIII Schools. He had worked in boat manufacturing and as a carpenter, but for the last six years had been employed as a robot maintenance worker by Copeland Corporation. At an early age he made his profession of faith in Christ at Mount Olivet Assembly of God and then renewed his faith at Trinity Full Gospel Church in Eldridge, in 1990. He liked being outdoors where his favorite activities were fishing, hunting, and working in his garden. He loved sports of all kinds, but particularly football and baseball. He enjoyed collecting Coca-Cola items, coins, and antique pictures. Because of his disability, Jackie had made his home with his sister, Debra, and her husband, Harry, for the last several months, and they were his basic caregivers. Jackie sometimes needed assistance with his care and David and Candy, and Sonny and Betty were wonderful to come to his aid. His family was very important to him and he greatly enjoyed spending time visiting with them. Jackie was a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, and cousin, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He was loved by all who knew him, and will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2008, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial will be in the Crossroads Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Memorials may be made through the funeral home. Return to top
