Jackie R. Chambers (Mansfield)'s Obituary
Jackie Ray “Jack” Chambers, son of Walter Roy and Pauline Goss Chambers, was born July 2, 1932 in Mansfield, Missouri and departed this life on February 26, 2012 in his home in Mansfield at the age of seventy-nine years, seven months and twenty-four days.
Jack was united in marriage to Cleo Dennis on November 22, 1951 and to this union three children were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother and a great-grandson, Joseph Grubbs.
Jack is survived by his wife of over sixty years, Cleo of the home; two sons, David Chambers and his wife Christine of Joplin, Missouri, Dennis Chambers and his wife Lisa of St. Louis, Missouri; a daughter, Jacqueline Grubbs and her husband Rick of Rogersville, Missouri; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren along with other relatives and many friends.
Jack was born and raised in Mansfield and was graduate of Mansfield High School in the Class of 1950. He lived in Illinois for a couple of years and worked at the Rock Island Arsenal and after returning to Mansfield he worked at the MFA feed store. He owned and operated several restaurants and had also worked for Charles Rush at State Farm Insurance. After “retiring” he worked at Wal-Mart in Springfield at the Independence Avenue location for fifteen years and if his health hadn’t failed he would have been there many more years. He was also a former member of the Mansfield Lions Club.
Jack had made a profession of faith in Christ many years ago and was a member of the Presbyterian Church but attended the New Bethel Primitive Baptist Church with Cleo for many years.
In his spare time he loved playing cards and yard work.
Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and will always cherish the wonderful memories we had with him.
