James W Allison (Bolivar)'s Obituary
James Winton Allison, age 84, of Flemington, Missouri, passed away at his home, on Tuesday, March 1, 2016.
Winton was born March 10, 1931 to Joe S. and Fern (Young) Allison. He was the third of four children. He grew up in the area and after graduating from high school, was drafted into the U.S. Army. After basic training Winton served in Germany, during the post-war occupation.
Winton married the love of his life, Marcella McNeely on August 8, 1954. Their parents’ houses that they grew up in were only two miles apart, so Winton and Marcella built their home in the middle, and have been there ever since. They were married for 61 years, and were blessed with two sons.
Winton sold insurance for approximately 40 years, and greatly enjoyed it, but his real passion was his farming. He also raised cattle and tended to a garden. He was a gifted gardener and would often have so many cantaloupes that he and Marcella would have to distribute them to neighbors in the area.
He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Winton is preceded in death by his parents; a brother in law, Joe Long; and a grandson, Ryan Allison.
Survivors include his wife, Marcella Allison, of the home; son, Tony Allison, and wife Amy, of The Woodlands, Texas; son, Marty Allison, and wife Doris, of Henderson, Nevada; grandson, Erik Allison and wife Tamara, of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandson, Blake Allison, of Plymouth, Minnesota; granddaughter, Taylor Hutchins, and husband Ryan, of New Braunfels, Texas; granddaughter, Ashley Quinlan, and husband Tim, of Aledo, Texas; great-grandson, Kade Quinlan, of Aledo, Texas; great-grandson, Wyatt Hutchins, of New Braunfels, Texas; sister, Maxine Estes, and husband Dave, of Flemington, Missouri; brother, Gary Allison, and wife Sonya, of Flemington, Missouri; and sister, Audrey Long, of Springfield, Missouri.
Burial with full military honors will follow the funeral, at the Rondo Cemetery, in Rondo, Missouri.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
