Jim was one of my nicest uncles and I only wish I had gotten to know him better. It was great to see him at family events and play "Charades" with him and the Buckley family. I hope you are in a better place now.

Jim came to VS-33 as the X.O. in 1969, just before I left the squadron. A gentle, class act. We kept in touch over the years and got together in recent years at a couple squadron reunions. Ruth, he will be remembered fondly by all who served with him...

My deepest sympathies are extended to you. This will be a very difficult time for all who knew Jim since he was a wonderful person. May God bless you. Freda Burner
I am very grateful for Jim's friendship over the years. He was both a great colleague and a wonderful mentor. Jim was already retired and just working "relief" when I moved to the lake area-a new pharmacy graduate and had so much to learn. Jim was always willing to help out and freely share his wealth of knowledge. We shared a common passion for snow skiing and although he was over twice my age, I know the man could always out ski me. Occasionally, he would call from on top of one of the ski runs and say this one is for you and ski it for me. I skied in January and dedicated a run to Jim. It would have been nice if I would have called to tell him. At the pharmacy, we use to joke with him and tell him that when we got older we wanted to be like him--because from our perspective he had it real good: work a little and travel alot! I am grateful to say that Jim was so much more to us than just a man who got to travel, he was a great friend, mentor, and colleague. He was truly a blessing. --Abbey Beckett RPh Camdenton, MO
I am so sorry to hear of Jim's passing and especially to see this too late to pay my respects at his service. He was the epitome of a gentleman and a very kind man. I am grateful to have had the privilege to have worked with him . My deepest sympathies to all the Family.

Jim was, by any measure, one of the finest men it has been my pleasure and privilege to know. His warm smile and firm handshake always welcomed me into the room, and his optimism in all situations was contagious. His quality of character is certainly such that we would all do well to emulate.
Thank you Jim, for your many gifts to us, and thank you Ruth for sharing this exceptional man with our beloved fraternity.
Sincerely,
Tim Couch

I am deeply saddened to learn of Jim's passing. He has been a great friend and faithful brother. I will miss him greatly. --Roy L. Gilkey, Grand King, Royal Arch Masons of Missouri.
I am fortunate to have had Jim as a friend. He was the consummate gentleman, with a gift of grace and class. We shared many a Sunday morning together in Sunday School, where he shared his abundant knowledge of both the bible and his life experiences. His life enriched all those around him, perhaps the biggest compliment I can give another man. Ruth, we are all so sorry to see him leave us, but our lives have been given so much by him. God Bless.
