James Douglas Burd (Lebanon)'s Obituary
James Douglas Burd, son of Neil Frank and Mary Elizabeth Hoke Burd, was born July 27, 1958, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Wednesday, July 27, 2016, in his home in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of fifty-eight years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Lois Fay Burd.
James is survived by two sisters, Martha Brooks, and her husband, Mike, of Springfield, Missouri, and Margaret Burd, and her spouse, Dr. Becky Brinkman, of Denver, Colorado; two nieces, Abby and Katherine Smith; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Phillipsburg and Conway communities and graduated from Conway High School. For the last ten years he had made his home in Springfield, Missouri, where he worked at the Springfield Workshop.
James had professed his faith in Christ and was a member of the Phillipsburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church for many years, He was currently an active member of Springfield Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
He loved to travel and had visited New York City, Hawaii, Chicago, Washington, D.C., and Florida, among other places, and had taken a cruise to the Bahamas. He was a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Team and liked going to their Springfield and St. Louis games. He also liked attending basketball games at Missouri State University. He had a great smile, never met a stranger, and possessed a quick sense of humor. He always wanted to stay in contact with all of his family and friends. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed having time with his sisters and nieces.
James was a loving brother, uncle, and was a caring friend to many. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
