James Buttram's Obituary
James Angus Buttram, son of Herbert Eugene and Jessie Joann Bass Buttram, was born May 24, 1958 in Springfield, Missouri. He departed this life January 15, 2008 at his home in Grovespring, Missouri, at the age of forty-nine years, seven months, and twenty-one days. He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents and his step-father, Kenneth Lapham. Jimmy is survived by his mother, Joann Lapham and her companion, Philip Douglas of Marshfield, Missouri; two brothers, John Buttram of Marshfield, Missouri and Don Buttram of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister, Debbie Mayhew and her husband, Matt, of Marshfield, Missouri; a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends. He was born in Springfield, and as a small child the family moved to Illinois. When he was eight years of age, they moved to the Grovespring-Niangua Area. He graduated from Conway High School in 1976, and lived in Wright County the rest of his life. He had worked at the Steel Plant in Marshfield, Missouri and at B & D Truck Port in Lebanon, Missouri. In his younger years he attended Amity Freewill Baptist Church. He was a former Lions Club Member and was very active with the Grovespring Rural Fire Department as a Dispatcher and was also a member of the Phi Theta Kappa international honor society. He had a great interest in computers and had taken some computer classes. His family was very important to him and he loved monitoring fire department traffic on his scanner. Jimmy was a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew and cousin and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the wonderful memories he has created for his family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2008, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Hartville. Burial will be in the Little Creek Cemetery, North of Hartville. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Hartville, Missouri.
