James Otto Clouse, son of F. A. and Ada Burk Clouse, was born June 13, 1919 in Webster County, Missouri. He departed this life Sunday, October 28, 2007 in his residence in Mansfield, Missouri at the age of eighty-eight years, four months, and fifteen days. On November 10, 1941, James was united in marriage to Bertha Marie “Dee” Hunsaker, and to this union two sons were born. James was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Jill Clouse; three brothers, Kenneth Clouse, Paul Clouse, and Reverend George Clouse and his wife, Laurel; as well as one sister, Lois Clouse. He is survived by his wife, Bertha Marie “Dee” of the home; two sons, Roy Clouse and his wife, Sue, of Mansfield, Missouri, and Gary Clouse and his wife, Carol, of Nashville, Tennessee; six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Bettie Eagleston and her husband, Herman, of Mansfield; a brother, David Clouse and his wife, Elaine, of Mansfield; a sister-in-law, Naomi Clouse, of Mansfield; numerous nieces and nephews as well as a host of other relatives and friends. James spent all of his married life in the Mansfield area. He was a successful dairy farmer until 1969, and was a beef farmer at the time of his passing. James loved to use his tractor on the farm especially for brush hogging, mowing and bailing hay. He also enjoyed taking care of his cattle and liked to help Roy with his hay. James was saved at the age of seven and had attended Brush Arbor and the Ava Church of Holiness for many years, and for the last several years had attended the Mansfield Nazarene Church. James loved to go to church and enjoyed going to garage sales with Dee. In the last several months, after he was disabled, the highlight of his day was for Dee and Roy to take him to Ma and Pa’s restaurant for lunch. James was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, and brother-in-law and was a caring neighbor and friend.
