James L. Cornelison (Lebanon)'s Obituary
James Lee Cornelison was born March 6, 1933 to William Leonard and Myrtle Bailey Cornelison in Eunice, Missouri. He passed into eternal rest on Thursday, December 21, 2023 in his home. He was ninety years, nine months and fifteen days of age.
James grew up in Texas County, Missouri and then moved to St. Louis. He then went west to California where he lived for ten years. Following his time there, James moved to Lebanon, Missouri, where he purchased a farm and made his career as a painter and a farmer.
On April 12, 1951, he was united in marriage to Sherla J. Summers and together they shared over seventy-two years of wonderful memories, and stood by each other through the tough times.
James is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Ricky Lee Cornelison; a brother, Charles Dean Cornelison; and two sisters, Sharon George and Joanne Weaver.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sherla Cornelison of the home; his son Mickey Cornelison and his wife Sandy of Kansas City, Missouri; two daughters, Connie Sue Myers and her husband Larry of Gladstone, Missouri and Karen Rust and her husband John of Lebanon, Missouri; three grandchildren,, Scotty Lee Myers, Lindsey R. Strange and Ashley N. Call; five great-grandchildren, Drew, Jackson, Brooklyn, Beckett and Stephen; his brother, Wilbert Cornelison of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri; and two sisters, Beverly S. Cornelison-Mines of Gladstone, Missouri and Carol Hedrick of Hollister, Missouri.
James was a kind man and had a quiet personality. He enjoyed his farm and taking care of livestock. In his spare time, he liked to go fishing and hunting. Most of all, he loved his family very much. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the light of his life.
James was a loving and caring family man and friend. Words cannot adequately express the impact he had on the lives of his family and so many others. His unwavering support will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A memorial has been established to Claws and Paws and contributions may be made through the funeral home.
