James G. Faulkner (Bolivar)'s Obituary
James G. Faulkner, age 86 of Bolivar, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2014 at 7:15 am his home after a lingering illness.
He was born on September 2, 1927 in Fairfax, MO the son of Charles T. Faulkner and Bertha (Smith) Faulkner.
Jim was united in marriage to Gertrude McClaskey on June 3, 1950 at the Fairfax Baptist Church at Fairfax, MO by Gertrude’s uncle Rev. Lloyd E. Morgan.
Jim was baptized on December 7, 1947 at the Fairfax Baptist Church by Rev. Kenneth Israel.
Jim was a member of the Wellspring Fellowship Baptist Church in Bolivar. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army at the end of World War II, also a member of the American Legion and the Zabud Council #25 Masonic Lodge in Springfield, MO.
Jim did many things during his life, he worked for the Fairfax Schools driving a school bus while also doing custodial work. He also worked for the International Harvester Co. Jim also had a variety store in Fairfax for a short time. Jim greatly enjoyed his carpentry work, painting and drawing. As a hobby for Jim and Gertrudes 50th Wedding Anniversary, he and his sons, Jim and Chris restored an old 1946 Studebaker, just like the one he courted Gertrude in. This gave him great joy. They moved to Bolivar in 1970.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Myrtle Whitford and one brother Ezra Faulkner.
Jim’s survivors include his wife of 63 years Gertrude of the couples home. One daughter, Debra Rene Volcko and husband Doug of Bolivar, MO; two sons, James C. Faulkner and wife Kathy of Bolivar and Christopher Faulkner and wife Barbara of Bella Vista, AR. Also one brother Dale Faulkner and wife Lila of Tarkio, MO. 7 grandchildren Josh Faulkner and wife Katie of St. Louis, MO; Renee Elkins and husband Adam of Clarksville, TN; Stephen Volcko and wife Traci of Bolivar; John Volcko and wife Missy of Urbana, MO; Bryson Heenan of Lawrence, KS; Wes Heenan of Pittsburg, KS; and Madison Faulkner of Bella Vista, AR. 16 great grandchildren Trey Elkins, Jaron Elkins, Gracie Faulkner, Amelie Faulkner, MacKenzie Walters, Sidney Volcko, Olivia Volcko, Samuel Volcko, Abby Ashlock, Allison Ashlock, Hayden Harper, Hannah Harper, Harley Volcko, Riley Volcko, Kinsley Volcko and John Volcko Jr.
