James "Freddy" Powell (Bolivar) 's Obituary
James Fredrick “Freddie” Powell, 98, of Bolivar, MO passed away Monday, January 2nd, 2017 at his home in Bolivar, MO surrounded by his family.
Freddie was born June 6, 1918 to Jim and Mamie Macafus Powell at Willow Springs, MO. Tha family moved to Bolivar when Freddie was about 5 years old and has lived there since.
He spent three years in the Army in the 345th infantry in Europe.
On January 25, 1941 he was united in marriage to Lucille Choate. They were able to celebrate 60 years of marriage before her passing on August 30, 2001.
Freddie was saved in a wheat field after he returned home from the military, later joining Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. One of his great joys was to go down by a lost person and helping to pray for them and to see them saved.
Freddie was preceded in death by his parent, Jim and Mamie, his brother Georege, and his wife, Lucille.
Freddie is survived by a host of nieces and nephews as well as his loving church family.
Survives for Freddie Powell will be held Friday, January 6th, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, MO. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 5th, 2017 from 5-7 PM at Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, MO. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
