James "Jimmy" Hammond (Lebanon)'s Obituary
James “Jimmy” Robert Hammond was born February 15, 1954, in Martinez, California, to the late Eleanora Johanna Leth and Robert Jack Hammond. He passed away in his home in Lebanon, Missouri on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.
Jimmy spent his early years in the Bay area of California. He was employed by Chevron Oil for over fifteen years. He then served as a maintenance mechanic for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for over twenty-five locations. He faithfully served in this capacity for twenty-one years.
On February 21, 2004, Jimmy was united in marriage to Avis B. Smith. In 2020, he and his wife, Avis moved to Lebanon, Missouri where Jimmy continued to be active in the church in Lebanon.
He loved Country music, fishing, being outdoors and gardening. His biggest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren and his family. His faith rotated around his faith and his family. Both were so very special to him.
He is survived by his wife, Avis, of the home; and six sons, Jeremy Ross and wife Amanda of Lebanon, Missouri, Jason Ross and wife Jennifer of Springfield, Missouri, Russell Sattler and wife Christie of Benicia, California, John Marwick and wife Jessica of Vallejo, California, Dennis Ross and wife Lisa of Eugene, Oregon and Greg Marwick and wife, Gina of Benicia, California; twenty-six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Sue Ellen Stoner of Aberdeen, Washington and Jill Jackson of Madera, California.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his daughter, Tiffany Marie Snow and his first wife, Sharon Faith Rose, who passed away in 2002.
Jimmy was a very encouraging person, and maintained an optimistic outlook on situations. He had a good sense of humor and a laugh that was unmistakable and quite contagious.
As we bid farewell to our wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, let us celebrate the profound impact he had on our lives. May his memory serve as a guiding light, reminding us to embrace love, kindness, and faith.
