James Harrison's Obituary
James Earl Harrison, son of Robert H. and Mary Ann Stewart Harrison, was born January 17, 1921, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Saturday, December 23, 2006, in Christian Healthcare North, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, eleven months, and six days. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Michael James “Jim” Harrison. James is survived by a daughter, Anne Krebs, and her husband, Paul, of Blue Springs, Missouri; three sons, Dan Harrison, and his wife, Linda, Bob Harrison, and his wife, Margaret, and Fred Harrison, all of Lebanon, Missouri; four granddaughters, Michelle, Kristine, Sherri, and Rachael; five grandsons, Michael, John, Christopher, Kyle, and Bobby; ten great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in Lebanon, Missouri, and also lived in Phillipsburg and Strafford for short times during his childhood. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army Air Corps from July 30, 1942, until October of 1943, during World War II. Besides Lebanon, he also made his home in Springfield and Jefferson City, where he worked as a florist throughout the years. He was a trained Floral Transworld Delivery Association designer and took great pride in his work. James was a longtime member of St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church in Lebanon. He belonged to the American Legion, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening in his spare time. He was a very talented craftsman and did lots of intricate and detailed woodworking projects. He also enjoyed telling tall tales and had won first prize in a Liar’s Contest conducted by Bill Ring. As his life changed, his family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren. James was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2006, in St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Rosary Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening with visitation to follow. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
