James "Gene" Henson (Buffalo)'s Obituary
James Eugene “Gene” Henson was born at home on January 21, 1929, in Cooksville, Missouri to Jesse James and Florence Irene Henson and departed this life on July 26, 2022, in Springfield, Missouri.
He was called Gene by his family and friends. Gene was an over the road trucker for most of his working life. Farming with his family before starting his career as a trucker was something he always enjoyed. Family meant so much to him.
Gene was the most kind and patient man and never spoke badly of anyone. He was always willing to help anyone. He loved his neighbors and friends, always welcoming them to come visit anytime. He met his wife, Virginia while she was caring for his mother. He married the love of his life, Virginia R. Keith Martin, on July 8, 1990.
Gene was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; four brothers, Dale, Barton, Orville and Lonnie Ray Henson. He is survived by two daughters, Auburn Thornton and Roberta Smith; a son, Odell Keith; a friend Michael that kept him laughing all the time; two nephews; one niece; and a host of friends that sadly miss him.
Funeral Services for Gene will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 29, 2022, at the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home in Buffalo, Missouri. Bro. Caleb McClure will be officiating. Visitation will take place before the service at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, July 29, 2022. Interment will be at Stoutland Cemetery in Stoutland, Missouri.
