James Frederick Hodge (Seymour)'s Obituary
James “Jim” Frederick Hodge, age 79, went to be with the Lord on February 16, 2018 in his home in Seymour, MO. He was born August 29, 1938 in Wenatchee, WA to William “Fritz” and Vernice Hodge. After graduating from Seymour High School he moved to Omo Ranch, CA and worked for Wetzel-Oviatt Lumber Co. for 10 years. In 1960, he met and married Harriett Lorraine Hansen. After several years in California the family moved back to Seymour, MO where he began building homes in the area for the next 30 years. Jim and Harriett retired in 2001 and together they enjoyed being with friends and family, attending church and traveling around the country especially to the deserts and mountains in the western U.S. They were very devoted to each other and when Lorraine was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease at age 63 he cared for her in their home until the last few weeks of her life. They were married for over 50 years until her passing in 2010.
More than anything, Jim loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, drinking coffee with his friends at McDonalds, watching wildlife on his property and many other simple pleasures of life. He had a great sense of humor and liked to make people laugh. He will be deeply missed.
Jim is survived by his three children, James B., David, and Lori (Jeff) Roberts; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, cousins and his special friend and companion, Peggy Haggard. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Jim’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Missouri Chapter in Springfield, MO.
