James "Jim" Alvin Henry (Buffalo)'s Obituary
James “Jim” Alvin Henry, age 72, of Buffalo, Missouri, entered into rest on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at his home. Jim was born on June 5, 1954, in Denver, Colorado to Robert and Myrtle (Nash) Henry. Growing up in Colorado, Jim developed a love for the great outdoors. He enjoyed hiking and camping. He loved the fresh air and exploring wide open spaces. On February 7, 1987, Jim was united in marriage to Patricia Jo Herrmann in Thornton, Colorado. Together they relocated to Buffalo, Missouri. Jim loved Buffalo and being in the country. He explored his new area on bike rides, an activity that he enjoyed until his passing. Jim was an avid reader, he enjoyed a variety of literature. Together, Jim and Pat enjoyed gardening. Pat would start the garden, and Jim would work hard to help with the upkeep and water the plants and harvesting the produce. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was an expert with the H-16 rifle and hand grenade. Jim was honorably discharged in 1985. Following his service, Jim enjoyed collecting military memorabilia. Jim was a commander of the American Legion 19 in Buffalo, Missouri. Jim loved the Lord. He was a member of the Calvary Freewill Baptist Church in Buffalo, as well as attending weekly Gideon meetings. For many years, Jim worked with the teens, helping with drama and puppet productions. He enjoyed reading and studying his bible, always attending Sunday School. He and Pat looked forward to the beautiful fellowship with their church family. Jim was preceded by his mother and father-in-law Lydia and Albert Herrmann and sister-in-law Cathy Henry. He is survived by his loving wife Pat, parents Robert and Myrtle Henry, brother Craig Henry, sister Glenis Henry, niece Julie, as well as numerous extended family members, beloved friends, and church family. Psalm 95: 6-7 “Come, let’s worship and bow down, Let’s kneel before the Lord our Maker. For He is out God, And we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of His hand” Services are scheduled for 11 am on Friday, June 19, 2026, at the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home with pastor Mark Elliott officiating. Visitation will be held the hour prior. Arrangements are under the direction of Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home, Buffalo, Missouri.
