Jim, you were the first face I saw when I arrived in Bremerhaven for duty. During the next three years, you and your family did your best to keep me sane, occupied and NOT locked in my room or apartment.
When I started to stress too much at work, I'd get a call "informing me" that your daughters would be babysitting, and I was going to attend your band's show that night.
After meeting you and Pat, my parents were a lot more comfortable leaving me in Germany, knowing that you both would be keeping an eye on me.
Thank you for everything you and your family did for me and my family.
I’ll never forget the day that you and Grannie took us kids home with you. The times we had while living in Korea and my favorite place of all Germany! You made it possible for us to see the world and experience traditions and customs that so many don’t get to experience. Some of the things I will never forget were the trips to the concentration camps while we lived in Germany, the family trips to the amusement parks, you being there for our soccer games that you introduced us to when we first came to live with you, the race nights on the weekend, the car shows you were apart of especially the one where I made all those baked goods and sold everything, and you playing in your band because you sure loved your guitar and music.
I blame you for my love of writing and photography. If it wasn’t for you, I don’t ever think I would have pursued being on the newspaper committee, the yearbook committee, or even take up photography. Because of you, I am a published poet, and I am the lead editor of the yearbook for the school I work for. I can go on and on about you Papa because let’s just be honest you left a HUGE impact on my life and the person I have become today. I love you so much and will miss you everyday, words just can’t explain how much. Can’t wait to see you again ❤️
