James F. Koby (Lebanon)'s Obituary
James F. Koby, 99, of Lebanon, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 27, 2015, at Lebanon South Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lebanon.
He was born on Oct. 26, 1915, in Lebanon to Fred Peter and Flora Ethel Keck Koby, who preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Lt. Colonel Francis R. Koby.
After graduating from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1933, James worked with his father in the sheet metal business for a few years. He then moved to San Diego, Calif., where he was a supervisor over many large aircraft contracts for Consolidated Aircraft, which later became General Dynamics Corporation. He worked on the PBY Flying Boat, B-24 Bomber, B-36 Bomber, Atlas Missile, and the F-111 Bomber during his 31 years in the aircraft industry. He retired in 1971 and moved back to Lebanon in 1973.
James F. Koby enjoyed horse race handicapping and had visited most of the major race tracks in the United States, Canada and Mexico. He enjoyed traveling and had visited all parts of the world.
He is survived by many dear friends.
No services are planned at this time for James F. Koby.
Memorial donations to the Lebanon R-3 School District for the Fred and Flora Koby Memorial Scholarship Fund for LHS students may be made through the funeral home.
