James Latimer's Obituary
ames Samuel Latimer, son of James Wiley and Francis Lodema Warner Latimer, was born November 7, 1919, near Conway, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, February 15, 2008, in Dallas County Care Center, in Buffalo, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, three months, and eight days. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Sarah Frances Fisher; and a nephew, Francis Warren Fisher. James is survived by a nephew, James W. Fisher, and his wife, Mary Helen, of Phillipsburg, Missouri; a great-niece, Amy Fleming, and her husband, Sean; two great-nephews, Justin Fisher, and his wife, Georgia, and Nathan Fisher; a great-great-nephew, Warren F. Fisher; several cousins; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. He was born and raised on the family homestead, near Conway, Missouri, and continued to live there for most of his life. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. Throughout the years, James worked hard taking care of his cattle and crop farm. James was raised in the United Methodist faith, and possessed a caring and compassionate spirit. He was always helpful to anyone in need and willing to give a helping hand. He was a longtime active member of the Masonic Lodge of Conway, Missouri. In his spare time he greatly enjoyed fishing, especially for spoonbill and crappie, and also liked to go gigging. His family was very important to him and he was very fond of his great-niece and great-nephews. James was a loving uncle, great-uncle, and great-great-uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2008, in Graceland Cemetery, Conway, Missouri. Masonic Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening in the funeral home. Visitation will follow until 8:30 p.m. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Memorials may be made through the funeral home. Return to top
