James M. McClure (Lebanon)'s Obituary
James Marvin McClure, son of Sheldon C. and Alice I. Smith McClure, was born February 19, 1947, in East Moline, Illinois. He departed this life Friday, November 27, 2020, in Texas County Memorial Hospital, in Houston, Missouri, at the age of seventy-three years, nine months, and eight days.
On May 16, 1964, he was united in marriage to Dorislee M. Handley, and to this union two sons were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Howard; and two sisters, Mildred and Elaine.
James is survived by his loving wife of fifty-six years, Dorislee, of the home; two sons, Paul McClure, and his wife, Becky, of Lynchburg, Missouri, and Andy McClure, of Cabool, Missouri; three grandchildren, Alton McClure, and his wife, Kaylynn, Garret McClure, and his wife, Morgan, and Case McClure; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was raised in the Lynchburg and Falcon, Missouri areas, and graduated from high school. After he and Dorislee were married, they returned to Illinois where they lovingly raised their sons. James worked for the John Deere Foundry in East Moline, Illinois for over twenty-seven years. In 1993, he and Dorislee moved to the Lynchburg, Missouri area and purchased a farm.
James had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a devoted member of Pine Creek Baptist Church. He possessed a deep abiding faith.
He had served on the Mount Carney Cemetery board for several years. He loved being outdoors where he enjoyed hunting, fishing with his grandchildren, and riding around on his John Deere Gator, especially taking his grandchildren on rides along with his brother-in-law, Stanley. He and Dorislee enjoyed traveling and had visited forty-eight of the fifty United States. He was a longtime fan of John Deere, and loved watching football and NASCAR. His family was very important to him and he enjoyed having time with his sons and grandchildren.
James was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will hold tight to the wonderful memories he made for them during his lifetime.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 11 a.m. at Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Mt. Carney Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to Mt. Carney Cemetery.
