He then took a position with the United States Post Office in Memphis before transferring to Lebanon, Missouri in 1993. He worked at the post office in Springfield for several years before his illness kept him from being able to continue. James always had a positive attitude and was very strong in his faith. In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were fishing and hunting, and he always loved falling out of trees while hunting. He possessed a wonderful sense of humor, liked giving his family a hard time, particularly his daughter-in-law, and could always make his sister laugh. He had an outgoing personality and never met a stranger. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren, who lovingly called him “Papa”. James was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and loyal friend.
