James Perry's Obituary
James Clayton Perry, son of Benjamin Franklin and Ona Celesta Kiplinger Perry, was born May 13, 1926, in Laclede County, Missouri. He departed this life Thursday, March 25, 2010, in his home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-three years, ten months, and thirteen days. On March 21, 1950, he was united in marriage to Bessie Aszlee Lowery, and to this union one daughter and two sons were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bessie, on December 5, 1996; six brothers, Volla, Slim, Frank, Bill, George, and Charley; and two sisters, Deed and Dutch. “Shorty”, as he was called by his family and friends, is survived by a daughter, Debra Perry, of Lebanon, Missouri; two sons, Jimmy Perry, and his wife, Melline, of Camdenton, Missouri, and Dencil Perry, of Lebanon, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Scott Keen, and his fiancée, Holli Ogle, Nikki Clark, China Boals, Bessie Goss, Amber Perry, Amy Perry, Ivy Perry, Adam Bryant, and Cindy Stone; five great-grandchildren, Jordan Hobbs, Denver Jordan, Angel Clark, Bianca Boals, and Latrell Goss; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in Laclede County, Missouri. After he and Bessie were married, they made their home in the Lebanon area and lovingly raised their children. Shorty worked for Hopkins Lumber Company in Lebanon and Camdenton for forty years. In his spare time he liked hunting and fishing, and did so for as long as his health allowed. In his younger years, he enjoyed dancing and singing. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his great-grandchildren. The family’s special memories are of Sunday’s when the whole family would listen to the oldies on the radio and sit back and sing together with Shorty. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday March 29, 2010 at Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon. Burial in the Lowery Cemetery. Visitation Sunday afternoon 4-5:30 p.m. under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. A memorial has been established and donations may be made through the funeral home.
