James Ricky Hicks' Obituary
James Richard “Ricky” Hicks, son of James “Creed” and Velma Wright Hicks, was born April 6, 1936, in St. Louis, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, November 28, 2008, in his home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-two years, seven months, and twenty-two days. On April 6, 1955, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Rice, and together they shared fifty-three years. His parents preceded him in death. Ricky is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of the home; a son, James “Randy” Hicks, and his fiancée, Gail Thompson, of Lebanon, Missouri; a daughter, Chrissy Granrich, of Boonville, Missouri; a grandson, Kenneth Lee Hicks, of Lebanon, Missouri; a great-grandson, “Dusty” Hicks, of Lebanon, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and was raised in the Lebanon, Missouri area, where he graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1953. Soon after he and Marilyn were married, they made their home in California while Ricky worked as a truck driver for the Kirst Construction Company. In 1970, the family moved back to Lebanon, and Ricky worked for Ed Helmreich Trucking for several years. Ricky was raised in the Methodist faith, and had established his own personal relationship with his Lord and Savior. In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were hunting and fishing. He also liked to go bowling and to watch car races at the I-44 Speedway. He enjoyed working in his yard and raising a garden for many years. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed spending time with his wife and son. Ricky was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday December 2, 2008 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Memorial Park. Visitation is Monday Evening 7-8:30 pm under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. Return to top
