James Robert's Obituary
James Clark Roberts, age 92 of Bolivar, MO passed away on Friday, March 13, 2009 after a lingering illness. Clark was born to James B. and Lola Mae (Neal) Roberts on February 26, 1917, 5 miles north of Bolivar near the Pomme de Terre river. He was converted at Mt. Olive Church in 1931 was currently a member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Bolivar. He was a graduate of Bolivar High School in 1935. After serving with the U. S. Army Field Artillery for 2 ½ years, he was discharged in October, 1944. He returned to Bolivar and was united in marriage to Lucille Wakefield on December 23, 1944 and to his union one son and one daughter were born. Clark received his Real Estate license in 1946 and was appointed agent for the Polk County Mutual Insurance Company in 1952. His hobbies included golf, music, bridge and meeting his friends at the Nifty Café each morning. Clark was a 52 year member of the Howard S. Keeling American Legion Post # 138 of Bolivar and was a 50 + year member of the Bolivar Golf Club in Bolivar. Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Lucille; his son Jim Roberts and wife Kay of Springfield, MO; his daughter Carol Estes of Springfield, MO; and his sister, Vera Stewart of Bolivar, MO; Also his 5 grandchildren, Jeremy Estes, Cody Estes, Shanna Fishel, Rochelle Puryear and Laurie Robertson. His 5 great grandchildren, Landon Estes, Nate Puryear, Abbi Puryear, Elsie Estes and Callyn Robertson. Also a host of other relatives and many friends. A memorial funeral service for Clark will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 2:00 PM in the Butler Funeral Home Chapel in Bolivar with Brother Ron Erven officiating. Musical selections will be; “Peace In The Valley” by Red Foley, “Go Rest High On That Mountain” by Vince Gill, “I Can Only Imagine” by Mercy Me, and “In The Garden” by Alan Jackson.
