James A. "Jimmy" Shull (Seymour)'s Obituary
James ‘Jimmy’ Allen Shull, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed peacefully while having coffee and watching his dog play on the beautiful Sunday morning of September 15th, 2019, at his home in Seymour. One of nine children, Jimmy was born to James Duff Shull and Norma Irene (Hall) Shull on December 23, 1949, in Springfield, Missouri. He was sixty-nine years, eight months, and twenty-three days wise.
He was preceded in death by his father Duff, mother, Norma, brother, Donnie Allie, sister Kay Nelson, and sister, Joy Crandall.
He is survived by his brother, Danny Allie of Columbia, sister, Sandra Miller of Seymour, sister Debra Turner and her husband, Denzil, of Theodosia, sister, Daphne Wilburn of Kirkwood, and his favorite little dog, Scooter.
Jimmy lived and worked many different occupations in Utah, California, Oklahoma, and finally in Missouri. His working years never stopped. He was almost 70 years old and still kept up with the younger men in his family with Cummins Pools. He spent his early years with his best friend and brother, Donnie. They did everything together; unfortunately, it wasn't all legal, but that's a whole different story 😉.
During the middle of his life, he sought help from the walls of NA. Jimmy was the rock that everyone came to for help and remained a pillar of strength for his entire life. He loved with everything in him, and would give to anyone who needed it. Jimmy had an innate ability to focus on a person and make them feel important. He always had a smile on his face and a story to tell; his stories were famous. According to Jimmy he'd done everything, and when he was telling these stories with humor and wisdom – you were never quite sure if they were true (If anyone has any information about him training falcons we'd really love to know for sure). He loved deer hunting with Danny, and always began a countdown for the number of days until deer season. He loved to travel, and in his younger years, play softball.
Jimmy loved the Lord and never stopped reading is bible. The last years of his life were spent in Seymour, and as he would say, were the “best years of his life.” His family adored him and even though he had no children of his own, he once told his niece, Theresa, "Tweety, your kids and grandkids are mine too!" He spoiled and loved them so much, and taught them mostly things that would get them into trouble.
His closest family, including Linda, Brent, Shannon and Carrie Allie, Brandell Evans, Shane and Laura LeBak, Danny and Theresa Cummins – along with their children, Amanda, Daniel, Jessica, Danny, Ronni, and their children, Kevin, Ashton, Riley, Kaydence, Amelia, Lance, Gavin, Johnny, Gracie, and Ryder – will forever be his biggest fans.
We urge everyone to live like Jimmy did:
● Take care of the people you love ● Spoil your kids ● Work hard ● Laugh ● Tell stories ● Tell people you love them ● And most of all, live each day like it is your last.
