They made their home in Alaska from 1953 until 1981, where he was a warehouse supervisor for the Department of the Army. Following his retirement they left Alaska and moved to Grovespring and purchased the farm Jim always dreamed of. Jim professed his faith in Christ, and was a member of the Fairview Methodist Church. He was also a member of the American Legion, in Jefferson City, and was active in DAR and DAC. His family and their activities were important to him. Caring for the farm, reading, woodworking, fishing, golfing and being outdoors gave him great pleasure.
