James Steele's Obituary
James Emmett “Jim” Steele, son of Emmett Sanderson and Laura Belle Woolery Steele, whom preceded him in death, was born December 14, 1936, in Cooper County, Missouri. He departed this life Tuesday, January 5, 2010, in his home, Eldridge, Missouri, at the age of seventy-three years and twenty-two days. On March 26, 1991 in LaMonte Christian Church in LaMonte, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Virginia Waggoner. Together they shared the past eighteen years of marriage. Also he was preceded in death; a son, John M. Steele, and a grandson, James Steele, and dear friends Roy and Louise Alexander. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Steele of the home; nine children, David Steele and wife Sue of Las Vegas, Nevada, Ed Romano of Atlanta, Georgia, Teresa Rhinehelder and husband John of Fordland, Missouri, Donald Steele and wife Darla of Sedalia, Missouri, Roy Steele of Tipton, Missouri, John Oliver and wife Kathy of Camdenton, Missouri, Linda Roberts and husband Ronnie of Junction City, Kansas, Steven Oliver and wife Gretchen of Strafford, Missouri, and Christopher Oliver and wife Amy of St. Louis, Missouri; twenty-five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Laura Meyer and husband Don of Sedalia, Missouri. James was raised in Sedalia, Missouri, and was a graduate of Smith-Cotton High School in the Class of 1954. He retired as a District Store Keeper for the Missouri Public Service. He was a dairyman for several years and was a retired Realtor. James made a profession of faith and was a member of New Testament Christian Church in Linn Creek, Missouri. He served on the Board of Directors of Show-Me Christian Youth Home for twenty-one years and served as a Houseparent for four years. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, building and welding, but most of all, he loved fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday January 9, 2010 at the Allee-Holman Howe Funeral Home. Private burial will be in the Laughlin Cemetery under the direction of the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home Camdenton, Missouri. Return to top
