James Stewart (Hartville)'s Obituary
James Delane Stewart, the son of Roy Ancel and Opal Claxton Stewart, was born September
6, 1933 near Grovespring, Missouri. He departed this life on May 15, 2018 at his home in
Hartville, Missouri at the age of 84 years and 8 months.
While working in Kansas City, He met and married Minnie Lee Short on July 13, 1956. Two
sons were born to the couple. They were married over 39 years when she passed away in
1995. On April 12, 2001, he married Paulette Davis. That union lasted 17 years.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; by his first wife Minnie; one son, Ronald Allen;
two sisters, Lavelle Tripp and Mary Wheeler; and a brother, Bobbie Stewart.
He is survived by his wife, Paulette, and her daughter, Lea Bembry of the home; by a son,
James Don Stewart and his wife Marilyn, their daughter Tristan, all of Mtn. Grove; one brother,
Thomas Stewart of Mesa Arizona; one sister, Leota Pratt and her husband, Charles of Branson
Missouri. His extended family, grandchildren; Justin, Todd, Nigel, and Trista; great-
grandchildren; Mason, Colton, Ike, Emma, Kaytrianna, Remi, Weston, and Shaydin. Along with
many nieces and nephews, friends, neighbors and acquaintences that will miss him.
Jim served in the Army as a Military Police from December 7, 1953 until December 7, 1955.
He worked at the Bendix Corp. in K.C. for 11 years. During that time, he moved to Lacygne,
Kansas, where he also operated a successful farm. In 1969 he moved his family back to
Hartville and farmed until 2017.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and excelled at buying and improving property. During his life,
he had owned over 3,000 acres of property. He estimated that he had caught thousands of
pounds of catfish that he cooked at reunions, birthdays, weddings, for Farm Bureau Board
members, and at various churches. He was always prepared with cookers and fish.
He accepted the Lord at the age of 17 and was later ordained as a deacon in Beaumont
Baptist Church in Kansas City. He moved his membership to Hartville First Baptist where he
faithfully served as a deacon and Sunday School director.
