James Rocky Thurman (Lebanon)'s Obituary
James “Rocky” Thurman passed away Monday, January 23, 2023 in Mercy Hospital in Lebanon, Missouri. At the time of his passing, he was sixty-nine years, four months and two days.
Rocky was born September 21, 1953 in Marshfield, Missouri, to Sonny Thurman and Vida Skinner Thurman. He graduated from Conway High School, but had traveled a lot with his family as his dad was in the military. Following graduation, he began working at Independent Stave Mill in Lebanon, Missouri where he met his wife, Marcia. They were married May 4, 1973 and had two children, a daughter and a son. They were looking forward to celebrating 50 years of memories this May.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brother-in-laws, Tim Moore and Howard Weaver.
Rocky is survived by his wife, Marcia, of their home in Grovespring, Missouri; his daughter, Serina Pruiett and her husband, Billy, of Republic, Missouri; his son, Jeremy Thurman and his wife, Joyce of Conway, Missouri; six grandchildren, Kyle Pruiett, Halley Pruiett, Samantha Pruiett, Aaron Thurman, Tyler Thurman and Daniel Thurman; his great-grandchildren, Braxton, Madison, Knox, Parker, Noah, McKenna, Malaysia and Melanie; his sister, Rhonda Thurman of Louisiana; sister-in-laws, Mona and Carol Moore, David and Carissa Franz and Cindy Patton; Christina Weaver; three aunts, Donnie Cook of Arkansas, Jenny of St. Joseph, Missouri and Chris Willett of Marshfield, Missouri; brother-in-laws, Rick Moore, Dave Moore, Tracy Moore, Dan Moore, Junior Moore and Nick Moore; and many other friends and family.
Rocky loved his family deeply and had a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed picking on his family members. He also could be found playing softball with his children and grandchildren and would take the grandchildren deer hunting.
Rocky served as a Shriner in Lebanon and had also earned his Associates degree in Machining. Earlier in his adult life, he had served as a police officer for five years while living in Nevada before moving back to Missouri to become a machine operator with Modine in Camdenton, Missouri.
Rocky enjoyed being with his family and creating memories that will live with them for many years to come.
