James Anthony “Tony” Davis
James Anthony “Tony” Davis, the son of Jacob Solomon and Verna Bolian Davis, was born June 1, 1938, in Hartville, Missouri. He departed this life Sunday, February 21, 2010, in Cox Medical Center, South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-one years, eight months and twenty days.
On March 5, 1970, he was united in marriage to Marcia Mae Savako, and they have shared the last thirty-nine years together.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Reneé Michele Meglan, and a son, James Michael Davis.
“Tony” is survived by his wife, Marcia, of the home; three children, Scott Anthony Davis and his wife, Tina, of Charlotte, North Carolina, Pamela Hutsell and her companion, Jerry Chadwick, of Halfway, Missouri, and Joycelyn Corey Cohron and her husband, William, of Winder, Georgia; his son-in-law, Kurt Meglan, of Hartville, Missouri; eight grandchildren; two brothers, John Davis and his wife, Sandy, of Hartville, Missouri and Gary Davis and his wife, Ann, of Kansas City, Missouri; two sisters, Marcia Fritz, of Edwardsville, Kansas, and Polly Taber, of Hartville, Missouri; his mother-in-law, Therese Savako, of Ravenna, Ohio; two sisters-in-law; Cynthia Watt and her husband, Terry of Kent, Ohio, and Nanette Zawistowski and her husband, Tom of Akron, Ohio, a brother-in-law, Roger Savako and his wife, Janice of Ravenna, Ohio, a number of nieces and nephews; a very special friend who was like a daughter, Melissa Pompe, of Rocheport, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Born and raised in Hartville, he graduated from Hartville High School in the Class of 1955. He later moved to Kansas City to enter the workforce and throughout the years had resided there, as well as in Chillicothe, Sedalia, Sherman, Texas, and later returned back to his beloved Hartville. He worked over the years as a self-employed distributor of consumer products. He was a man of ideas and his business leadership, visionary skills, logic, and communication ability were a hallmark to his career.
He loved his family dearly and his grandchildren held a very special place in his heart. He was full of life and was the perfect host for all gatherings. Also he enjoyed going deer and turkey hunting, fishing, and found real satisfaction in making a deal buying, selling, trading, and going to auctions.
“Tony” was a devoted and caring husband, loving father, a cherished grandfather and treasured brother and trusted friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments, and will forever hold dear the memories he created for his family and many friends. He will be greatly missed but will live on in our hearts forever.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday Febuary 27, at 11:00 am in Holman-Howe Chapel, Hartville, Missouri with burial to follow in Durbin Cemetery, North of Hartville, with Brother Ed Williamson officiating.
A family visitation will be 7-8:30 Friday evening in the Funeral Home.
