James Weston's Obituary
James Neal Weston, son of Luther D. and Lota Swafford Weston, was born April 21, 1929, in Bergman, Arkansas. He departed this life Thursday, April 8, 2010, in Magnolia Square Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty years, eleven months, and sixteen days. On September 3, 1948, he was united in marriage to Glenna M. Chadwick, and to this union one son was born. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Herbert L. Weston. Jim is survived by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Glenna, of the home; a son, Tim Weston, and his wife, Mary, of Springfield, Missouri; two granddaughters, Brittany Weston, and her fiancé, Virgil, and Ellie Ray, and her husband, Andrew, all of Springfield, Missouri; a great-grandson, Parker; a brother, Rev. Paul David Weston, and his wife, LaDonna, of Springfield, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Glenda Chadwick; several beloved nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born in Arkansas and then moved with his family to Springfield, Missouri, when he was six years old. He graduated from Springfield High School, and then served his country faithfully in the United States Navy during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he graduated from the University of Tulsa with a degree in accounting. He was a developer and home builder in Springfield for forty-five years, and was a past president of the Springfield Homebuilders Association. He also owned J. Weston, Ltd. in the Battlefield Mall for several years. Jim had professed his faith in Christ and was a member of Second Baptist Church for almost thirty years. He had also served on the Board of Directors of the Global Outreach Ministries. He and Glenna enjoyed traveling in their R.V. and spending time with their dear friends. He was an avid fan of the Missouri State University Basketball Bears and the St. Louis Cardinal Baseball team. Nothing in life brought him more joy than his granddaughters and his new great-grandson. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a kind and caring gentleman. He blessed everyone who had the honor of knowing him. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday April 13, 2010 at the Gorman - Scharpf Funeral home in Springfield, Mo. Burial will be in the White Chapel Cemetery. Visitation is Monday evening 6-8:00 p.m. at the Gorman - Scharpf Funeral Home. Friends may call at their convenience until Noon on Monday April 12, 2010 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri and the Gorman - Scharpf Funeral Home Springfield, Missouri. Two memorials have been established one to the Globel Outreach Ministry or to the Second Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri.
