Jane E. Duff (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Jane E. (Frost) Duff, 87, of Springfield, Missouri, went to be with her Savior on Wednesday, June 11, 2014.
She was born as a twin on June 18, 1926, to Tripp and Mary Smith, weighing a mere 1lb 3/4oz. Her parents were blessed on that special day. Jane would always say, “Being a twin was never boring!”
Jane met her husband, Harry Frost, at a church dance in his military uniform and found out he was a twin also. They united in marriage on July 2, 1946. They celebrated 44 years together before his passing in 1990. Two sons were born, Gary and Harlie.
Jane was blessed to have two loves in her life. On February 15, 1992 she married family friend, Charles Duff, instantly becoming “Mom” to 7 step-children. They celebrated 16 years together before his passing in 2008.
Jane loved living at Pomme De Terre Lake for many years before moving to The Manor at Elfindale since September 2011. She surrounded herself with family and friends, and enjoyed her passion for cooking. Jane was famous for her “Santa” and chocolate chip cookies. Her outlook on life, wonderful laugh, and beaming smile were inspirational.
In 2013 she entered a contest at The Manor and was crowned Queen for The Missouri Health Care Association Nursing Home Pageant. Jane placed first at the District level and runner up at State competition. Later the residing State Queen had to pass her crown down to Jane. She represented The Manor with pride and dignity during her reign.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Tripp and Mary Smith; both husbands, Harry Frost and Charles Duff; twin sister, Jean Zakibe; older sister, Marian Newell; and son-in-law Hayward Ray. Jane recently beared the pain of losing her son, Gary, in January 2014. She could always count on hearing his voice every morning on the phone.
Jane is survived by her son, Harlie Frost and his wife Brenda; daughter-in-law, Marianne Frost; her step-children, Charles Raymond Duff and his wife Zella; Elizabeth Wheeler and her husband Jack; Ronald Duff and his wife Carla; Robert Duff, Loretto Ray, James Duff, and Rose Huntley and her husband Ron. Jane left 3 grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren, 11 step-great grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, and friends to carry on her legacy.
Jane will be remembered for her free-spirit, love for all, and being a “Tough Duff”.
In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to the Antioch Christian Church, PO Box 70, Pittsburg, MO 65724
