Janet Lea Coonce (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Janet Lea Coonce, daughter of Johnny Alfred “Lefty” and Edith Larimore Williams, was born June 9, 1950, near Niangua, Missouri. She departed this life Wednesday, October 31, 2012, in Capital Region Medical Center, in Jefferson City, Missouri, at the age of sixty-two years, four months, and twenty-one days.
On April 9, 1971, she was united in marriage to Owen Spencer Coonce, and they shared the last forty-one years. In June of 1985, Janet and Spencer began the legal procedure of adopting twenty-two month old Angela Maria, which made their family complete.
Janet’s parents preceded her in death.
Janet is survived by her husband, Spencer, of the home; a daughter, Angela Coonce, of Jefferson City, Missouri; a granddaughter, Karleigh Danielle Sneller, of Jefferson City, Missouri; a sister, Julia Ann Myers, and her husband, Billy Don, of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised on a farm west of Conway, Missouri, and learned how to cook and do chores around the house. She attended the old Santiago one-room School for her first few educational years, and then continued her education in Conway, graduating from Conway High School in the Class of 1967. That same year, she began working in the administration office of Wallace Hospital, Breech Medical Center in Lebanon, where she continued to work for nineteen years. After she and Spencer were married, they made their home in the Lebanon area, and lovingly raised their daughter. In 2007, a beautiful granddaughter, Karleigh, was born and added what was the greatest blessing anyone can receive. In 1992, Janet and Spencer moved to Jefferson City and made their home.
Janet attended Bear Thicket United Methodist Church, near Lebanon, for a number of years.
In her spare time, she enjoyed taking care of her family, and keeping her granddaughter. She liked spending time at the computer where she kept in touch with her friends through Facebook. In July of 2009, Janet was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer and began treatment at the Goldschmidt Cancer Center in Jefferson City. She bravely fought the disease for over three years.
Janet was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that she will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
