Janet (Jan) Graves (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Janet (Jan) Kaye Graves was born May 10, 1950 in Lebanon, Missouri. She passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2024 in Lebanon, Missouri at the age of seventy-four years, three months and three days.
Jan was raised in Lebanon and a graduate of Lebanon High School.
On March 18, 1988, she married the love of her life, Douglas Alan Graves. They were married thirty-four years before he passed away in 2022.
In addition to her husband Doug, she was also preceded in death by her mother, Mabel Gregory.
Family was the cornerstone of Jan’s world. She is survived by her daughter, Angie Embry and her husband Darrin of Mack’s Creek, Missouri; her grandchildren, Karisa Appleton and Kyler Dampier and his wife Katie; her great-grandchildren, Porter and Pryce Appleton and Kolter Dampier; her brother, Junior Gregory and his wife Donna; three sisters, Patricia Brooks and her husband Roy, Sarah Cziryak and her husband Dennis, Silvia Newell and her husband Richard; and many nieces, nephews, friends and other family members.
Jan attended nursing school later in life and in 1989, graduated from Massage Therapy School. She was a nurse for Tyson and Willowbrook for many years.
She had a deep, personal relationship with God.
Jan had a gift of helping others. She loved people and had a compassionate heart for those in need.
She dedicated her life to her husband, Doug. When he encountered health issues, she was there to care for him and give him the best life possible.
Jan enjoyed baking, as well as making no-bake cookies. She played the piano, and liked dancing and bowling. She also loved her little dog, Minnie.
Most of all, she was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. Jan loved her family and was a big part of their lives. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and integrity. She was supportive of her family and loved ones and was present in their lives in a meaningful way. Her family will most certainly treasure the memories they have of Jan that will be shared for years to come.
Service for Jan Graves will be Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday, August 16 from 5 – 7 p.m. in Holman-Howe Funeral Howe. Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park.
A memorial to Holman-Howe Funeral Home or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital has been established and donations may be left at the funeral home.
