Janet Lewis (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Janet Sue Lewis, daughter of Kenneth and Ruth Riley Marcum, was born January 12, 1947, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, March 14, 2011, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of sixty-four years, two months, and two days.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Carl Marcum; and a special friend, Charles.
Janet is survived by a daughter, Pam Blankenship, and her husband, Bryant, of Lebanon, Missouri; six sons, Kenny Lewis, Dwayne Lewis, and his wife, Layla, Randy Lewis, and his wife, Toni, Bucky Lewis, all of Phillipsburg, Missouri, Kevin Lewis, and his wife, Leslie, and Billy Lewis, and his wife, Angie, all of Lebanon, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Leer, and her husband, Dwight, of Readstown, Wisconsin, and Peggy Howard, of Marshfield, Missouri; a special sister-in-law, Phil Marcum, of Pea Ridge, Arkansas; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Laclede County, Missouri, and graduated from Lebanon High School. She then made her home in the Lebanon area and lovingly raised her children. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her family, Janet also worked at H. D. Lee Company for twenty years. For the last five years, she had worked for the Copeland Corporation in Lebanon.
Janet followed the Baptist faith throughout her life.
In her spare time she enjoyed making quilts, doing ceramics, listening to bluegrass music, and going to bluegrass festivals. She also enjoyed raising chickens and ducks. She was steadfast in her beliefs and could be very outspoken. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Janet was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends.
